Mike was there from the begining. Michael and I were complaining about the arts in salt lake city. We were talking about the kind of shows or a type of venue we would love to see -that kind of venue where everyone can come together: writers, painters, musicians, dancers and the like in one spot. We were looking for a communal center. So we decided to create it ourselves.
Michael has finished his MFA at Colorado State. He is a consumate poet with a very quick mind. His intellectual curiosity about the world is reflected in his poetry. He has been published in many journals. He will be performing Thursday June 26th 6:00 pm-6:30 pm at the Utah Arts Festival
Joel was one of the first poets to ever read at Cabaret Voltage. We were performing at a local bar, when the owner had second thoughts about a poetry reading. A large crowd was showing up that had nothing to do with our show. The owner was afraid that “poetry” would drive them away. In the middle of Joel’s reading, the owner turned the jukebox on and turned the volume way up to drown Joel out. The was the last show we did at that particular bar. Joel has published in numerous journals and his book Winged Insects is an award winning collection and the recent collection titled, Chopin’s Preludes: Poems
